Boating to Marble Island

Come on an unforgettable adventure to Marble Island, 40 km southeast of Rankin Inlet along the Hudson Bay. David is your knowledgeable guide and captain for the hour-long journey. He is sure to hold your attention through stories and legends of the Island as the boat slices the cold water. In the distance you will begin to see the beauty of the marbled cream rock, streaked with pinkish veins that cut through the landscape.

Reach the shore and step into Marble Island’s rich history. Learn of the island’s significance to Inuit history, the Inuit creation story that originates here, the European expeditions that left unsolved mysteries, and the famous wrecked whaling vessel, the Orray Taft. If the tide is low, you might even get to witness the outline of the shipwreck!

This tour is also a wildlife enthusiast's dream. Along the shoreline look out for Arctic foxes, lemmings, hares, and the incredibly magnificent polar bears. Sea mammals are plentiful surrounding the island and from the salty waters of the Hudson Bay, narwhals, seals, orcas, and a variety of whale species, including belugas and bowheads live in harmony. Marble Island is a popular hunting ground for Inuit during the summer months. For non-Inuit, access to the island is permitted only with a local guide.

Join David for a boating experience that combines the perfect balance of natural beauty, captivating history, and incredible wildlife opportunities.
