Meet David
David is a seasoned guide with a wealth of knowledge and experience, ready to lead you on an unforgettable adventure through the Kivalliq region. From a young age, David embraced the values of community and learned the importance of offering guidance and motivation through sport. Like most hearts of Nunavummiut, his belonged to hockey. Hockey provided so much for David - from learning on ice as a goalie, to off-ice where he served as a respected coach, and finally, a radio commentator, providing elders and locals an in-home experience in Inuktitut. The cumulation of these experiences gave him the gift of lending his voice to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics so Inuit could enjoy the excitement in their own language. He also did the same for basketball for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games.
David became President at the Kivalliq Inuit Association in 2011 and served for eight years, acting as a voice for the people of the Kivalliq. During that time, David spearheaded the creation of the newest cultural center in the region, strategically located in the oldest community, Chesterfield Inlet. David's leadership extended beyond the Kivalliq Inuit Association, as he actively contributed to various boards of directors over the years. These included Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, Sakku Investments Corporation, And Nunasi Corporation.
Perhaps the most important piece you should understand about David is his knowledge and ability to navigate swift judgments in the unforgiving weather and rugged terrain of the Kivalliq region. David eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome you to his home in English, or in his native tongue, Inuktitut. Whether sharing the stories of his community, providing insights into Inuit traditions, or sharing laughs with his beloved co-captain, Alayna (who also happens to be his daughter), you are in for an enriching and memorable experience.

Alayna gained an extensive understanding of local wildlife and survival skills from her family. She completed studies in physical education and rural development at Brandon University and human resource management at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba.
